2.169. Is a rare sealed Loire bottle C.1820-40. The seal reads VOUVRAY LES BARGAINS.
I have found a postcard in the postcard archive of ‘Indre et Loire’ of the Vendanges at the Chateau des Bargains which mentions ‘Les Bargains’ as a Grand Cru Classé. This is the only Loire wine seal that I have come across, if you know of another please let me know. The bottle has an applied string rim along with an early iron pontil scar.

Cork Spike. C. 1680-1700. Brass.
This is the culprit, the one responsible for all those de-corking chips on all your otherwise pristine bottles.
